I wish to apply for the position of a personal care worker. I have completed my certificate III in Aged Care and done my placements at Waverley Hill SRS, Wheelers Hill. My learning there have included helping the staff in assisting residents in all areas of personal hygiene and dressing, arranging and accompanying them to social activities, assisting with general maintenance and food preparation, and providing general care and emotional support to residents. Back in my country, I was a stay-at-home lady looking after my grandparents. I believe that my experience with the grandparents has provided me with incomparable training in caring for others (cleaning, feeding and showering them). This personal experience has provided me with valuable insight into the needs of the aged in Home Care Services and the importance of providing them with the nurturing, respect and comfort that they deserve.
