I am currently working as a home support worker with Boroondara Council. My role involves carrying out many aspects of personal and home care, such as assisting with showering, shopping, respite, cooking and cleaning. I have also been involved in “YPR” services (Young Persons Respite) with the Council, where we offer respite services to families with children and young adults with special needs. I enjoy spending time with my clients and feel I respond to their needs with care and compassion.
In recent years, I have felt drawn to working with young children in a greater capacity. In 2014 I commenced studying for a Bachelor of Education (Primary) and the following year, completed my first practicum, spending 4 weeks at Glen Iris Uniting Church Kindergarten. I received a High Distinction for this unit of study based on assessment of my time at the kindergarten and the theoretical component relating to the placement. Twelve months ago, I changed the course of my studies to early childhood education and care.
